What course should I do next?
For those who are looking at starting a career in health and safety or just want to add a little safety knowledge then the IOSH Managing Safely qualification is a perfect starting point.
Completed the IOSH Managing Safely or Similar?
For those that have completed the IOSH Managing Safely the next step in your occupational health and safety management development would be to take the NEBOSH General Certificate.
The NEBOSH General Certificate is designed for those who are planning to make a career out of safety management or hold safety responsibilities in the workplace. The NEBOSH General Certificate is perfect for safety supervisors, safety officers and junior safety managers, it is also the prior learning required for those who plan to complete the diploma.
Completed the NEBOSH General Certificate?
For those who have completed the NEBOSH General certificate there are two popular routes.
Route 1
The first route would be to move up to the NEBOSH Diploma, the diploma is the NEBOSH qualification that most people ultimately want to hold due to the demand from employers.
Route 2
The second route would be to add one of the NEBOSH specialist qualifications and enhance your knowledge in one of the following subjects:
- NEBOSH Fire Safety Management Certificate
- NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate
- NEBOSH Construction Safety Certificate
- NEBOSH Process Safety Management Certificate
- NEBOSH Risk assessment
- NEBOSH Incident investigation
You can find more information on our NEBOSH Certificates here - https://www.sheilds.org/qualifications/certificates/.
Those that have already completed a NEBOSH diploma would usually take the second route highlighted above and add a specialist certification and expand their knowledge in a certain area of safety management.
